Artist Statement

My artwork is a reflection of my experiences, and observations translated into visual form. I am drawn to the complex narratives of nature, the human form, and the interplay of color. Through my art, I strive to explore these elements and create a sense of connection and understanding with my audience.

I believe in using my talent to express emotions and tell stories. Through my figurative artwork and portraiture, I explore the complexities of the human experience – with a focus on the history of women, our struggles, our vulnerabilities, and our resilience. I am intrigued by the idea of the body and face as sites for inspiration and self-expression.

The way color can transform a person or place, casting a different mood and atmosphere depending on its angle and intensity continues to fascinate me. I aim to engage the viewer and encourage them to look closer and discover the nuances in my work. In many of my pieces, I incorporate an intensely colored abstract aesthetic to convey a deeper message and focus attention.

My artistic process begins with an idea or feeling and I let it evolve organically as I work. I am a firm believer in the power of experimentation and taking risks in art. I am constantly pushing myself to try new techniques, mediums, which allows me to grow and evolve as an artist. Whether it is through my bold use of colors or my incorporation of my favorite methods, painting with drawing; I study and explore to create a unique and captivating visual experience.
